Stacked Fin Round Aluminum Heat Sink for High-Power LED

Stacked-fin radial aluminum heat sinks for high-power LED downlights, street lights and COB modules - denser, taller fins than extruded sunflower sinks, CNC center bore, natural silver finish, cut to your luminaire.

  • Densest Fin Geometry: Thin aluminum fins are stacked radially to pack far more cooling surface into a round envelope than a single extrusion - exactly what high-wattage LED downlights and street lights need.
  • Tall Fins for Natural Convection: Fin heights of 50-150 mm reject heat upward efficiently in still air, reducing or eliminating the need for fans in outdoor and architectural luminaires.
  • CNC Center Bore: The center hole is precision-machined to nest your COB module, star-base LED or driver, with a flat base for tight thermal contact.
  • Lightweight & Corrosion Resistant: All-aluminum construction keeps luminaire weight low, and the natural clear finish resists oxidation for outdoor and horticultural use.

What Is This Service

Stacked-fin round heat sinks solve the cooling problem that a single extruded sunflower profile cannot: they pack far more fin surface into a round luminaire envelope by stacking thin aluminum fins radially around a CNC-machined center base. The result is a taller, denser, lighter sink that keeps high-wattage COB LED downlights, street lights and high-bay luminaires at safe junction temperatures.

Each fin is cut from thin 6063 aluminum sheet, stacked radially and bonded to a machined base with a central bore that nests the COB module or star-pattern LED. Because fins are thin and densely packed, the cooling surface per kilogram is much higher than a solid extrusion - which is why LED fixture designers choose stacked-fin sinks above 50 W per module, especially for outdoor fixtures where fans are not allowed.

We supply standard stacked-fin profiles in a range of diameters and heights, or CNC-machine the center bore, mounting holes and finish to your luminaire drawing. Natural silver clear anodize is standard; black or other colors are available. From prototype samples to 50,000+ pieces per month, under NDA.

Stacked-Fin Heat Sink Capabilities

Highest Surface per Weight

Thin stacked fins pack 2-3x the cooling surface of a solid extrusion into the same envelope, lowering total luminaire weight and cost.

Tall Fins, Natural Convection

Fin heights up to 150 mm drive heat upward in still air, removing the fan from outdoor and architectural luminaires.

CNC Center Bore

The center hole is precision-machined to nest your COB module or star-base LED, with a flat base for low thermal resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a stacked-fin heat sink used for?
It is a round radial sink used above roughly 50 W per module to cool high-power COB LEDs in downlights, street lights, high-bay and horticultural fixtures where fan-less natural convection is required.
How is it different from an extruded sunflower sink?
Stacked-fin sinks use thin sheet fins stacked radially, giving much higher fin density and height than a single aluminum extrusion. They cool more watts per kilogram, but cost more than basic extrusion.
Can you match the center bore to my COB?
Yes - the center bore is CNC-turned to your COB or star-base dimensions, and mounting holes are drilled to your fixture pattern.
Do you supply black finish?
Natural clear silver is standard; black anodize, powder coating and other finishes are available on request for outdoor fixtures.
