  • Skived Comb Fins: Fins are skived directly from the base plate, so there is no thermal joint between fin and base - critical for high-wattage IGBTs and inverters where every degree counts.
  • Milled Flat Device Base: The mounting face is fly-cut flat to seal tightly against IGBT, MOSFET or diode modules with thermal grease, keeping junction temperature low.
  • Drilled & Tapped to Your Pattern: Clearance and tapped holes are CNC-machined to your module mounting layout - no separate brackets, no drill fixtures on the shop floor.
  • Natural Silver Anodize: A clear anodize preserves high emissivity and protects the aluminum in industrial cabinets, inverter rooms and drive enclosures.

What Is This Service

Skived-fin heat sinks are the workhorse cooling solution for IGBTs, power MOSFETs, rectifier diodes and complete power modules. Unlike glued or bonded fins, the fins are skived directly from the base plate, so there is no thermal joint between fin and base - the single biggest source of thermal resistance in a heavy power sink. This is why inverter, servo-drive, UPS and welding-equipment designers specify skived fins above 500 W per device.

The mounting face is fly-cut flat and parallel, then CNC-drilled and tapped to your module pattern - whether that is a single IGBT, a half-bridge stack, or a full PIM block in a variable-frequency drive. Dense straight comb fins maximize surface area in the airflow path of a fan or natural-convection cabinet, and the natural clear anodize protects the aluminum in industrial enclosures.

We supply standard skived-fin profiles cut to length, or custom-skive taller fins and wider bases for higher power, then finish holes, slots and threads to your drawing. Samples ship within days; production runs scale to 50,000+ pieces per month under NDA.

Skived-Fin Power Sink Capabilities

No-Joint Skived Fins

Fins are skived from the base plate itself, eliminating the bonded-interface thermal resistance that limits glued-fin sinks at high power.

Fly-Cut Flat Base

The device face is milled flat and parallel so IGBT and diode modules sit evenly with thermal grease, lowering contact resistance.

Holes to Your Module Pattern

Clearance, tapped and counterbore holes are CNC-machined to your exact IGBT, PIM or driver layout - ready to bolt into the cabinet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why skived fins instead of extrusion or glued fins?
Skived fins are cut from the same base plate, so there is no glue or interference layer between fin and base. This gives the lowest thermal resistance and is the standard choice for IGBTs and power modules above several hundred watts.
Can you drill holes to my IGBT module pattern?
Yes - the flat base is CNC-drilled and tapped to your module drawing, including clearance holes, M-threaded holes and counterbores for bus bars.
What power levels are these sinks for?
Typically 500 W to several kW per device, used in inverters, servo drives, UPS, welders and rectifier banks with fan-assisted or cabinet forced-air cooling.
Do you supply black or other finishes?
Natural clear anodize is standard. Black anodize, powder coating or mill finish can be specified depending on the enclosure environment.
